Don't Get Ripped Off! - Protect Yourself
The Importance of Dealing with ONLY Professional and Reputable Contractors...
You can easily find Pre-Screened Reputable Licensed Contractors here.
It's a sad but very real truth, some contractors are not what they seem to be. You see it on TV all the time. A Home Repair Contractor comes out to take a look at the job. He seems nice enough and even professional, he even has a nice looking work truck with his company name on the side. So in your mind your thinking he looks trust worthy.
He then comes back in a day or two with an estimate, and sure enough his price is lower, much lower than the other contractors bids. When you ask him why? He tells you how he has lower over head and he's got a good line on some low cost materials. He also may suggest that because he works alone, he doesn't need to charge as much as the other guys.
DON'T BUY INTO IT!
The next thing he'll ask you for is a deposit to cover the materials. He may ask for 1/2 of the job or more. Which can be quite substantial on higher jobs like $20,000 or $30,000. After taking your check, he then re-assures you that you made a good choice and he'll be back in two days to start the job.
That's when it happens
Day 3 comes and goes and still no sign of your newly hired Home Repair Contractor. Doubt starts to set in and you get that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach, you call and call but no answer. You even try sending letters and driving over to the address on the estimate sheet only to find it was a false address. The only thing you can do now is go to police and fill out a police report in the hopes that if they ever catch up with crooked contractor he will be caught and punished. But unfortunately it is too late for you.
Don't become a Victim
Don't be a victim in a situation like this. You can easily find Pre-Screened Reputable Licensed Contractors. I am speaking from personal experience. My husband and I owed a small printing company in Novi Michigan. We had a little building that needed some work done to it. We did not have a lot of money, so we got three bids on some metal roofing for the front of the building. The bids were from $8000 to $10,000 dollars. Well we did not have that kind of money, but then the last bid came in at only $2500. We were elated to find a contractor who could do the job at such a low cost. So we hired him and paid a 50% deposit. The rest as they say is history. Not only did we not get our roof, but we got ripped off for $1250.00
From now on we only deal with licensed reputable contractors. This is why I created this website. I don't want to see any one get taken like we did. If you are looking for good reputable contractors in your area. You can click here to find them, these are only high quality, professional, trustworthy contractors near you. You can fill in your info. to get a list of several in your area that have all been pre-screened and check out ahead of time so you won't have to worry. Good luck on your job!
